Stolen Cars, Burglaries Reported Across Village: Glenview PD Blotter

The crimes follow a recent trend being reported throughout the North Shore.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • Dennis Kyrazopoulos, 45, of the 2000 block of Tower Drive, is accused of driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, suspended registratration, and was arrested at 10:54 p.m. June 18, following a traffic stop in the 2400 block of East Lake avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of July 8.
  • Quintella S. Johnson, 46, of the 900 block of N. Elmwood Avenue, Waukegan, is accused of driving while license suspended, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 8:50 a.m. June 11, in the 3100 block of Sanders Road. She was released and assigned a court date of July 24.

INCIDENTS

LEAVING A NON-OPERATING VEHICLE ON THE STREET

A resident in the 3800 block of La Fontaine Drive reported at 10:43 a.m. June 11, there was an abandoned vehicle in front of their residence. The vehicle was parked legally with a flat tire. The owner was contacted and verified they left the vehicle parked there due to the flat and planned to have it removed by June 14. They were cited under Village Ordinance for leaving a non-operating vehicle on the street and advised it would be towed by June 25 if it was not moved.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD

A Wilmette resident reported on June 11 that between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. June 6, their Chase Bank debit card was stolen from their purse during their work shift at a business in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Various fraudulent transactions occurred, totaling $443.73. The card was canceled, charges reversed and a new card was issued. No offender identified as of this report, but complaints will be signed.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

  • Two different residents in the 4100 block of Hampton Court called police on June 11 within an hour of each other regarding an unidentified person of slender build, who appeared to possibly be intoxicated, was sitting in the lawn then up against a tree in front of two separate properties. On two separate occasions, the person was approached by officers and took off running from the scene. Due to no known criminal activity having occurred, they were not pursued.
  • A resident in the 1000 block of Burton Terrace reported that at 1:48 a.m. June 12, they saw on video someone attempting to open their vehicle's door while wearing latex gloves. Entry was not made and the person fled on foot.

BATTERY

  • A Park Ridge resident reported on June 11 a battery had occurred at a business in the 1800 block of Tower Drive at 11:30 p.m. June 8. They said that another patron sucker-punched them twice in the head. Prior to the battery, the person was saying making weird comments.
  • An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Fir Street reported at 2:30 p.m. June 16, two patrons were involved in a physical altercation. Both parties advised the other was the aggressor over a disagreement about the seating area. Both parties were asked to leave.

STOLEN VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 100 block of Wilmette Avenue reported their vehicle was stolen between 4 a.m. and 4:08 a.m. June 12, according to camera footage. I-Pass records showed the vehicle was traveling in numerous towns following the theft.
  • A resident in the 1400 block of Huntington Drive called police at 8:19 a.m. June 12, to report their vehicle was stolen from their driveway during the overnight hours. A second vehicle was also entered, but nothing appeared missing.
  • A resident in the 1000 block of Woodlawn Road called police on June 12 to report that during the overngiht hours, their vehicle was stolen from the driveway.
  • A resident in the 1600 block of Del Ogier Drive reported that during the overnight hours of June 12 their vehicle was stolen from the driveway. A neighbor provided video footage of a white Dodge Challenger (no plate information) dropping a passenger who took the vehicle at 4:58 a.m. on June 12.
  • A resident of the 2400 block of Bel Air Drive called police at 1:12 a.m. June 16, to report two vehicles had been stolen from their driveway between 9:30 p.m. June 15 and 1 a.m. June 16. Both vehicles were unlocked with the keys inside.
  • A resident in the 300 block of Parkview Road called police to report that during the overnight hours of June 16, their vehicle had been taken from in front of the residence. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside. Ring video shows a dark-colored small SUV stop on the roadway and a person entering the Escape, leaving the scene with the vehicle.
  • A Chicago resident reported at 4:46 a.m. June 18, their vehicle was missing after they left it running with the keys inside while they went inside a business in the 2400 block of Sanders Road. FLOCK cameras located the vehicle at 4:46 a.m. on Interstate 94 at Willow Road. Officers checked the area, but could not located the vehicle.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

  • A resident of the 1100 block of Central Road called police on June 12 to report four separate vehicles of theirs in the the driveway and garage were entered or burglarized at 4:40 a.m. A garage door opener was taken from one unlocked vehicle to open the garage and access those vehicles. Camera footage showed an unknown male dressed in black clothing committing said acts.
  • A resident of the 2600 block of Summit Drive called police to report that during the overnight hours of June 13, their vehicle was burglarized while it was parked in the controlled access underground building parking garage. Taken were items totaling $397. Video footage showed an male jimmying the building's front door and burglarizing numerous vehicles in the parking garage.
  • A Chicago resident reported that between June 11 and June 13, their vehicle was burglarized while parked a driveway in the 600 block of Glenayre Drive. The vehicle was rummaged through, and the key fob was stolen.
  • A resident ijn the 2600 block of Summit Drive reported that during the overnigh hours of June 13, their car was burglarized whileparked in the secured underground parking garage. Approximately $500 in clothing and otheritems were taken from the vehicle, but later returned as they were recovered during theinvestigation of another burglary.
  • A resident in the 100 block of Washington Street called police at 8:03 a.m. June 16, to report someone had entered their vehicles that were parked in the driveway unlocked at some time overnight. They reported their wallet containing a driver's license and credit cards had been taken from the vehicle.
  • A resident in the 100 block of Washington Street called police at 8:27 a.m. June 16, to report someone had entered their vehicle that was parked in the driveway unlocked overnight.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident of the 2600 block of Summit Drive called police to report that between June 12 and June 13, their storage unit located in the underground garage was broken into and items were stolen. The total loss reported was $700. Video footage showed a male committing this burglary amongst others in the garage.
  • A resident of the 2600 block of Summit Drive called police at 12:27 p.m. June 13, to report that building access doors were damaged by an unknown male who used a pry tool to gain entry in order to commit numerous burglaries in the underground parking garage (reported separately). Numerous items were also stolen from the garage area.
  • A resident in the 2700 block of Central Road called police to report that between 4 p.m. June 13 and 12:15 a.m. June 14, their home was burglarized while they were out of town. Entry was gained via a rear sliding door. Several rooms were ransacked and items including jewelry, designer handbags, electronics, USC and foreigncurrency were stolen. Preliminary estimated loss is $16,530.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Dews Street resident reported that between June 6 and June 11, somone attempted to purchase a vehicle at two separate dealerships, one in Crestwood, Kentucky, and another in Marshfield, Missouri. The resident received phone calls from representatives verifying the validity of these attempted transactions, which were subsequently denied.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 4:27 p.m. June 13, a customer stole two items valued at $16. Additionally, on June 4, the customer also stole four items.
  • An employee of a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road called plice at 4:04 p.m. June 14, to report a male and female had entered the store, put several pieces of merchandise in a bag they brought with and attempted to exit the store. The employee confronted the female at the exit door to tell her payment was needed. The female squirted water from a bottle in the employee's face then fled in an unknown black sedan. Estimated loss is $30.

FLEEING OR ELUDING POLICE

Police attempted to stop a motorcyle in the 1800 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 9:42 p.m. June 14, for speeding (77 mph in a 35 mph zone) in the 4800 block of West Lake Avenue. The unknown person took off at a high rate of speed northbound Milwaukee Avenue and onto Sanders Road. No registration was present on the black frame and light neon green body motorcycle. Suspect was a male between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot-1, 180 to 190 pounds, wearing dark clothing and a black/white helmet.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Employees of a business in the 2800 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 4:45 p.m. June 16, an unknown male customer was upset about not being assisted at the store. He was outside yelling to the employees expletives and threatening to fight them, before throwing a beverage at the window. The male is described as a black, in their 30s, between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, with a goatee, wearing black jeans, white shirt, and a Bulls hat. He left in a black Chevrolet SUV.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

A Fontana Drive resident called police at 12:19 a.m. June 18, to report a former classmate, who is a resident of Chicago, has been calling and texting regarding sexual favors and asking for money. They told them to stop, but the communication has continued. Officers spoke with them and advised them to cease contact.

TRESPASSING

Employees of a business in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 3:20 a.m. June 18, to report a customer, who is a resident of Des Plaines, was being loud and they wanted them to leave the property. Officers spoke with the customer, who was intoxicated and agreed to leave. They were taken to Glenbrook Hospital due to level of intoxication and was given a trespass warning not to return.
