Wilmington Heroin Kingpins Pinched in Drug Raid: Cops

The DEA and the Wilmington police teamed to take down the dealers, police said.

The Wilmington police and Drug Enforcement Administration agents teamed to take down a pair of heroin kingpins, police said.

Larry Mikesh, 52, and Jason Gregory, 40 — “possibly the largest suppliers of heroin to the immediate area” — were arrested during a raid on an Interstate 55 frontage road residence Wednesday afternoon, police said.

“After their arrest the two admitted to selling more than 400 hits of heroin per week,” police said. “They told Agents that they travel to Chicago every two to three days to pick up another supply of heroin that they then sell for a profit.”

The Wilmington police reportedly reached out to the DEA for assistance after gathering information through the arrests of lower level sellers and users.

During a search of the house, agents and officers recovered 15.9 grams of heroin in 52 individually packaged hits, 5.8 grams of marijuana, and scales and drug packaging material, police said.

Mikesh and Gregory were taken to the Will County jail pending their bond hearings.
