LA GRANGE, IL – A La Grange man pointed a knife at his roommate earlier this month, threatening to kill him and their dog, police said.

Charles L. Seitz, 38, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault of a person over 60, domestic battery and unlawful use of a knife.

Patch obtained the police report through a public records request.

During the evening of May 11, La Grange police responded to a call at an apartment complex at 6 W. Harris Ave. A 62-year-old man told officers that Seitz threatened him with a knife.

Seitz resisted arrest, requiring several officers to subdue him, police said. He later denied the allegation.

During an interview, the victim said he and Seitz went to Walgreens to get cash to buy marijuana at a dispensary, according to the report. Seitz, who had been drinking all day, had an open bottle of vodka in the car, police said. The 62-year-old tried to grab the bottle away from Seitz, who then grabbed and squeezed the victim's right hand, police said.

After they returned from the dispensary, Seitz was believed to have become upset with the victim because their dog appeared to like the victim better, police said. So Seitz pointed a knife at the 62-year-old and warned, "I'll kill you and the dog," according to the report.

About 15 minutes later, Seitz asked the other man to make him a sandwich. The 62-year-old complied to prevent the younger man from becoming angry again, police said. But Seitz became upset again for an unknown reason, the report said.

Seitz then asked the older man to provide him with a cigarette. After Seitz finished smoking it, the victim said he called 911.
