Multiple Loaded Guns Found In Car Of Speeder: Northbrook PD Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON

Police saw a car disobey a red light at 3:07 a.m. June 15, while making a right turn at Willow Road and Sioux Trail. During the subsequent traffic stop with the driver, Chauncey T. Bobo, of Milwaukee, police noticed a handgun next to the rear passenger, Quincey Bobo, of San Tan Valley, Arizona. Police asked Chauncey Bobo if there were any more handguns in the car, and he reportedly said there were. Another handgun was tucked in between the front driver's seat and center console. Both handguns were loaded and neither of the occupants had a valid FOID or CCL card. They were charged with the following:

  • Chauncey Bobo was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, disobeying a red light, and had an active warrant out of McHenry County for failure to appear. He posted bond for the latter charge and was released.
  • Quincey Bobo was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon

A court date of June 17 was assigned.

ILLEGAL DRUG POSSESSION

Isaac M. Cruz, of Chicago, is accused of felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of cannabis over 10 grams, misdemeanor speeding (72 mph in a 45 mph zone), and was arrested at 10:46 p.m. June 15, at Willow Road and Three Lakes Drive. Police had stopped the car Cruz was driving as it was traveling at a high rate of speed. During the subsequent stop, police could smell a strong odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, the officer reportedly found 43.4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 91.2 grams of cannabis, 165 grams of THC oil, a digital scale, and a box of rolling paper. A court date of June 17 was assigned.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Torique R. Lee, of Chicago, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at 7:28 p.m. June 18, at Willow Road and Ravine Way. A complainant told police she had been confronted by Lee while stopped in her car at an intersection. Lee was reportedly was yelling at her through the vehicle's window and punching the glass. The complainant took a photo of Lee, who then fled on foot. Officers located Lee, who said he thought the complaint made a racial slur at him and he lost

his temper. A court date of Aug. 6 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

David Cassarubies-Antonio, of Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, driving without any headlights when required, driving while license suspended, and was arrested at 1:05 a.m. June 20, at Dundee and Sanders roads. A court date of July 10 was assigned.

RETAIL THEFT

Eddie J. Park, of Northbrook, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 10:41 a.m. June 20, in the 800 block of Willow Road. The loss prevention at the grocery store said Park had placed 31 high-end seafood items into his shopping cart and walked out of the store without paying. The total amount stolen was $671.09. A court date of Aug. 6 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

PHONE SCAM

A Voltz Road resident reported at 8:16 a.m. June 14, someone had called her cell phone and advised her he was with ComEd. He explained her bill was overdue and the electricity to her house would be shut down by 8 p.m., unless she paid. The caller provided a separate number, which the complainant called. She authorized Zelle to pay the person $2,400. Later in the day, she checked the real 1- 800-ComEd phone number and called to check the status. ComEd explained her account was all up to date, and she was scammed.

STOLEN/RECOVERED VEHICLE

A resident in the 2000 block of Dundee Road reported at 10:39 a.m. June 14, he had parked his 2013 gray Hyundai in front of the residence the night before. When he looked out in the morning, he noticed the vehicle was missing. During the investigation, the officer learned the stolen car was found a few blocks away with the driver's window rolled down, and the ignition wires pulled and exposed on the steering column.

BANK FRAUD

A Concord Court resident called police at 1:59 p.m. June 14, to report she had gone to her bank to perform some transactions. Once she arrived, she learned that there had been several unauthorized transactions and withdraws by an unknown subject. She advised the bank staff there was $94,983.54 missing from her account.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLES

Throughout Northbrook, multiple residents contacted police on June 16 to report several people were going car to car, stealing items from inside. In total, there were 15 successful car burglaries and three attempted car burglaries where nothing was taken from inside. In all the incidents, the vehicles were left unlocked. Most of the vehicles had cash taken from inside.

STOLEN VEHICLES

Throughout Northbrook, multiple residents contacted police on June 16 to report their cars had been stolen from their driveway. In all incidents, the vehicles were left unlocked and the key fob was left inside. Ultimately, all three vehicles were recovered in Chicago.

BANK FRAUD

A Debra Lane resident reported at 10:46 a.m. June 19, someone was able to gain access to his savings account and wire money to another banking institution. The complainant's bank didn't know how the person was able to gain access, but was trying to reverse the money.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

The staff from the Northbrook Park District reported at 12:45 p.m. June 17, someone had spray-painted graffiti on the gazebo at the park in the 1800 block of Walters Avenue.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

Police responded at 4:30 a.m. June 18, to a burglar alarm at a jewelry store in the 1200 block of Meadow Road. Once they arrived, they found the front door window and a side window were shattered. After searching inside, the officers noticed someone had stolen several pieces of jewelry from a display case.

THEFT

  • A hotel manager in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 2:27 p.m. June 18, a television had been stolen from the wall mount of one of the rooms. The cleaning crew noticed the theft after a couple had checked out. The room was in severe disarray and wall mounted pictures were removed from the wall and left on the floor. The management is working with the police department to provide information on the last customer that was in the room.
  • A resident in the 1300 block of Crestwood Drive called police at 6:01 p.m. June 18, to report she had been notified from a delivery service that a package was delivered to her address. The complainant did not find any package on her doorstep, though. She remembered seeing a suspicious car that was occupied by a female early in the day. She contacted the delivery service and asked what happened to the package. The driver indicated he was approached by a female that indicated she was the homeowner as he pulled up. The female took possession of the package and left. The description of the female matched the driver of the suspicious car the complainant had seen.
