PLAINFIELD, IL — Fourth of July means a fireworks show and food truck festival in Plainfield.

On July 3, residents and visitors can head to Gregory B. Bott Community Park, at 24550 W. Renwick Road, for the annual celebration of Independence Day. The fireworks are set to begin at about 9:15 p.m. July 3, and the food truck festival is slated before it from 4-9 p.m.

To accommodate the events, Plainfield police said the following roads will close July 3:

  • Renwick Road between River Road and Weathervane Way
  • Baseball fields will close at about 10 a.m.
  • Bott Community Park playground and the shared-use path will close at 8:30 p.m.

These parking restrictions will be in place July 3:

  • No parking on Renwick Road between Hometown Drive and Spangler's Farm Drive
  • No parking on River Road
  • No parking on one side of Hometown Drive, Lewood Drive between Renwick Road and Easy Street, Renwick Park Drive between Renwick Road and Brittany Street, and Easy Street between River Road and Farmingdale Drive

Recommended parking and fireworks display viewing locations can be found at Plainfield Central High School, St. Mary Immaculate Parish and at the south soccer fields at Bott Park.

Police said a limited number of accessible parking spots will be available near the tennis courts at Plainfield Central High School.

Anyone planning to attend the festivities should plan for "significant traffic delays" at the end of the night.
