3 New Coronavirus Cases At Kane Co. Juvenile Detention Center

ST. CHARLES, IL — A second round of coronavirus testing at Kane County’s juvenile detention center revealed three new coronavirus cases, officials said Tuesday. Two employees and a minor being held at the facility tested positive during a recent round of testing, according to Kane County Court Administrator Doug Naughton.

The minor is being isolated from others, and the two employees are quarantining at home, Naughton said in a release. The Kane County Juvenile Justice Center previously had eight cases — four minors and four employees — but all have recovered, the release states.

The facility was placed on a temporary lockdown earlier this month after a minor and an employee tested positive for the virus.

The detention center is expected to reopen early next week if there are no new cases.

St. Charles Cheerleader Tests Positive For Coronavirus: Report

The Kane County Adult Justice Center went into lockdown last week after two people being held there tested positive for the coronavirus and at least four others showed symptoms. On Aug. 3, officials from the Illinois Department of Justice reported 40 cases at the state-run Illinois Youth Center, a juvenile detention facility in St. Charles.
