Teen With Knife Robbed 2 Kane County Stores: Police

A 17-year-old was recently arrested in connection with armed robberies in St. Charles and Campton Hills, police said.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A 17-year-old from Campton Hills is facing felony charges after police said he used a knife to rob a convenience store in St. Charles earlier this month. The minor, who police did not name due to his age, was also charged in connection with an armed robbery in Campton Hills.

St. Charles police were called around 9:20 p.m. Aug. 9 to the 7-11 store at 2400 E. Main St. by an employee who said a man pulled out a knife as he walked up to the counter. The employee gave the person an unknown amount of money before he ran out the store, police said.

An investigation led detectives from the St. Charles Police Department to the 17-year-old’s home in Campton Hills, where a search turned up items that linked him to the Aug. 9 robbery in St. Charles, as well as a robbery at a Campton Hills gas station on July 21, police said.

The minor was recently arrested and charged with armed robbery and intimidation in connection with the St. Charles robbery. He also faces armed robbery stemming from the July 21 incident in Campton Hills.

Kane Co. Jail On Lockdown After 2 Test Positive For Coronavirus

The 17-year-old is being held at the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Joliet, where he was scheduled to have a hearing Wednesday afternoon, police said.
