Indiana law enforcement and community members follow slain deputy's body from hospital to Marion Co. Coroner's: Watch
LEBANON, IN — Dozens of police officers and supporters of law enforcement saluted and followed the hearse carrying the flag-draped body of Boone County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob Pickett Monday morning from St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis to the Marion County coroner's office, AP News reports. Police vehicles and motorcycles could be seen behind the hearse for miles. Indiana State Police and Boone County Sheriff officials reported Pickett's death Friday, hours after he had been shot during a police pursuit that morning.
Deputy Pickett was shot while running after a suspect in Lebanon, assisting Lebanon Police officials who had just served a search warrant on a 28-year-old woman.
Pickett was kept alive for hours so his organs could be donated.
