New Waterfront Restaurant With Rooftop Bar Opens In Downtown Annapolis

A new waterfront restaurant opened recently in Anne Arundel County. The downtown Annapolis eatery overlooks Ego Alley and has a rooftop bar.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A new waterfront restaurant opened recently in downtown Annapolis. The eatery, named The Choptank, overlooks Ego Alley at City Dock.

The seafood restaurant offers steamed blue crabs, shrimp and lobster. There are also crab cakes, raw shrimp and lobster rolls.

The menu features eight different fish. Options include sea bass, tuna and salmon. Other seafood highlights are calamari, clams, ceviche, mussels and oysters.

Steak lovers can enjoy a 28-oz. porterhouse. The burgers, fried chicken and wings are perfect for game day.

The dessert offerings are passion fruit crème brûlée, coconut cream pie, cast iron chocolate chip cookies and bubble waffle ice cream sandwiches. Customers can pair these sweet treats with a glass or bottle of Churchill's LBV 2016. This is one of the dozens of wines available.

The bar menu additionally features an assortment of crushes and cocktails. The tap list spotlights eight local beers and 12 classic brews, from Diamondback Green Machine IPA to Stella Artois.

Patrons can sit in the dining room, visit the rooftop bar or eat on the waterside crab deck.

Customers can also snag $10 valet parking right outside the eatery starting at 5 p.m. daily. Drivers must validate their parking inside.

The Choptank held its private grand opening on July 1. It opened to the public on July 11.

This is the second location for The Choptank. The other site is in the Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore.

The Choptank is operated by the Atlas Restaurant Group. This Baltimore-based hospitality company runs 23 eateries in Maryland. The business also manages three restaurants in Texas, one in the District of Columbia and one in Florida.

The Atlas Restaurant Group has been involved in the Annapolis community since it announced plans for The Choptank. The company on June 29 donated $10,000 to the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis to open its community pool.

"We are proud to play a small part in ensuring that families in the neighborhood have a place to swim and play this summer," the business said on Facebook.
