ANNAPOLIS, MD — A women's clothing store appears closed in the Westfield Annapolis mall.

Patch visited the shop, Papaya, on April 17. The storefront was covered with a mural. There was not any Papaya branding, and there were no notices posted outside.

An employee at a nearby store in the mall told Patch that Papaya has been covered up since mid-March.

Papaya and Westfield Annapolis no longer list the mall location on their websites.

Patch called two phone numbers listed for Papaya: (443) 221-7363 and (410) 224-0137. Both lines played computer messages saying the party could not be reached.

Patch requested a comment from Papaya and Westfield Annapolis, but we have not yet heard back from either. We will update this story if we get a response.

The Papaya store locator does not list any other locations in Maryland. The next closest are three stores in the Virginia towns of Springfield, Prince William and Williamsburg.

The Annapolis storefront is located next to Tumi and near the California Pizza Kitchen entrance.

Changes At Annapolis Mall

The Annapolis mall has seen some changes in recent months.

L'Antico Gusto Italiano opened in March, offering sandwiches and salads in the food court.

Miller's Ale House will soon open a bar and restaurant in the parking lot outside The Cheesecake Factory. The team behind InGrano will launch a new cafe next to Build-A-Bear Workshop.

The Original Pancake House will debut across from the California Pizza Kitchen. And Lasang Pinoy will open a Filipino restaurant across from Chipotle.

Jongro KBBQ is putting the finishing touches on a Korean barbecue restaurant. Seoul Blues Coffee & Dessert is also building out its space. Both eateries are slated to open soon outside the mall's food court entrance.

Capital Teas also returned to the mall in November 2022, opening up near JCPenney.

On the other hand, the mall has undergone some turnover in the past few months.

Nando's PERi-PERi, bareMinerals and BrookieGirl Bath + Body Care all shuttered their Annapolis locations around the New Year.

Squishable, a stuffed animal store, filled the vacancy left by BrookieGirl. The business opened this spring and is sandwiched between Soft Surroundings and Chocolate Moonshine.
