New Store Opens At Annapolis Mall, Offers Stuffed Animals With Charitable Twist

A new stuffed animal store opened in the Annapolis mall. Known for its charitable work, this is the business's second location in Maryland.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Squishable, a stuffed animal store, opened recently at the Westfield Annapolis mall.

This is the chain's second location in Maryland. The other shop is in Bethesda's Westfield Montgomery mall.

The Annapolis Squishable replaced BrookieGirl Bath + Body Care, which closed around the new year.

Squishable was founded in 2007, and it's headquartered in Soho, New York City.

The company has sold millions of stuffed animals. Many of those Squishables started as designs submitted by fans through the business's Project Open Squish contest.

Squishable also has a history of philanthropic work. The company donates monthly to a charity for each photo sent in by customers. The business also gives thousands of stuffed animals to kids in need around the holidays. Squishable occasionally auctions off prototypes for charity.

Charitable partners have included environmental, service animal and health care nonprofits.

Squishable announced the Annapolis opening on Facebook on April 3.

The store is sandwiched between Soft Surroundings and Chocolate Moonshine. JCPenney is the closest mall entrance.

The hours are:

  • Monday through Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Changes At Annapolis Mall

Squishable is one of several new businesses coming to the Annapolis mall.

L'Antico Gusto Italiano opened in March, offering sandwiches and salads in the food court.

Miller's Ale House will soon open a bar and restaurant in the parking lot outside The Cheesecake Factory. The team behind InGrano will launch a new cafe next to Build-A-Bear Workshop.

The Original Pancake House will debut across from the California Pizza Kitchen. And Lasang Pinoy will open a Filipino restaurant across from Chipotle.

Jongro KBBQ is putting the finishing touches on a Korean barbecue restaurant. Seoul Blues Coffee & Dessert is also building out its space. Both eateries are slated to open soon outside the mall's food court entrance.

Capital Teas also returned to the mall in November 2022, opening up near JCPenney.

On the other hand, the mall has undergone some turnover in the past few months.

Nando's PERi-PERi, bareMinerals and BrookieGirl Bath + Body Care all shuttered their Annapolis locations around the New Year.
