BEL AIR, MD — With no arrests made in the brutal slaying of Rachel Morin, 37, whose body was found along the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air eight months ago, her family has issued a new plea for help finding the killer.

The Rice, Murtha, Psoras law firm hired by the Morin family has released a 30-second commercial featuring Patty Morin, Rachel's mother. The commercial that will air in Southern California is both a tribute to Rachel Morin and a plea for justice from her loved ones. (See the video posted to YouTube below.)

In the video, Patty Morin talks about her daughter and how she was targeted in broad daylight, leaving her children to mourn her death.

"If he is willing to kill a perfect stranger, he is willing to kill anybody," Patty Morin says in the video. "She was the mother to five children, she's a sister. Somebody just grabbed her and took her. ... If you know this person, turn him in."

The commercial can be seen on YouTube and will launch on social media platforms in Bel Air, Los Angeles and border towns along the U.S.-Mexico border.

"Let's do this, let's catch this guy and bring peace to Rachel Morin's family," attorney Randolph Rice said.

He encourages viewers to visit the firm's website, where a reward of $35,000 for information in the case remains.

"We are hopeful that this commercial will reach someone who may have crucial information about Rachel's murder. Every piece of information, no matter how small, could be the key to solving this case and bringing answers to Rachel's family," Rice said.

A sketch was released in February of the suspect sought in Morin's homicide case, along with details never before released by the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Jeffrey Gahler, Harford County sheriff, has said he believes the man who took Morin's life is a serial killer. According to investigators, the suspect is a Hispanic man in his early to mid-20s and estimated to be 5’9" and weighing around 160 pounds.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office shared in a podcast that the investigation has led them to seven different states with 10 federal, state and local agencies assisting. Thousands of bilingual flyers have been distributed in Maryland and California, where a DNA analysis of Morin's crime scene matched DNA found at a home invasion and assault of a young girl in Los Angeles.

Doorbell camera video provided by the Los Angeles Police Department captured a brief clip of that man leaving the scene of the reported home invasion and assault in California. Investigators have conducted more than 100 interviews and followed up on more than 1,000 tips.

Since the August 2023 homicide of Rachel Morin, there have been at least two incidents on Maryland trails involving women being attacked.

A woman reported being grabbed and hit while jogging on a trail in Ellicott City's Centennial Park in the early morning hours of March 11. Howard County Police increased their presence in Centennial Park after the 24-year-old woman reported the incident. She was able to run away and reach her vehicle. She suffered a minor injury and didn't require medical treatment, police said.

The attack in Centennial Park came after a woman reported being attacked by a man while walking along the Canal Towpath Trail in Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park near Point of Rocks March 6. She told police she saw the man watch her begin her route, then he went to the trailhead and waited for her to return.
