What's Open, What's Closed In Bel Air On New Year's Day 2020

BEL AIR, MD — While New Year's Day is often a day to recover from the previous night's festivities, if you do plan to head out, be aware the holiday may affect the hours of area government offices, schools, public transportation and more.

We have your roundup of what's open and what's closed in Bel Air this New Year's Day.

Town of Bel Air: All offices closed New Year's Day.

Harford County Government: All offices are closed New Year's Day.

Harford County Circuit and District Courts: Closed New Year's Day.

Maryland State Courts: All state courts are closed Jan. 1.

Post Offices: Closed Jan. 1. No mail will be delivered.

Harford County Public Schools: Schools are closed Dec. 23-Jan. 1 for winter break. School resumes Thursday.

Harford County Public Library: All locations will be closed Jan. 1.

Harford Community College: The campus and all facilities are closed Dec. 21-Jan. 1 for winter break. Classes resume Thursday.

Harford Transit LINK: Modified bus service will end at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Services will be closed New Year's Day.

Parking: All meters are free on town-recognized holidays.

Trash/Recycling: Regular household trash pickup will run as scheduled New Year's Day. There will be no bulk collection, loose leaf or yard waste collection. Questions about the holiday refuse and recycling collection schedule should be directed to the Department of Public Works at 410-638-4536. If you contract with private provider, confirm schedule changes with the provider.

Landfills/Recycling Centers: The Harford Waste Disposal Center, Tollgate Yard trim drop-off facility and the administrative office will be closed Jan. 1.

Banks: Closed Jan. 1.

Movie Theaters: Most area movie theaters will be open New Year's Day. We would encourage calling your theater of choice to confirm hours.

Grocery Stores: Area grocery stores hours are as follows —

• Weis Markets: All stores will close at 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve. All pharmacies in Maryland and Virginia will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve. All stores will observe regular store hours on New Year's Day. All pharmacies in Maryland and Virginia will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• ShopRite Supermarkets: Most stores are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Check your local store's Facebook page or call the store to check hours.
• Safeway: Open regular store hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
• Aldi: New Year's Eve: All stores will open with limited hours (use the store locator for hours at your location). New Year's Day, Jan. 1: Closed.
• Giant Foods: Bel Air stores will close at 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve. All Bel Air area stores will be open regular hours on New Year's Day and pharmacies will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Target: New Year's Eve: Stores open at 7 a.m. but closing times may vary. New Year's Day: Open normal hours.
