Winter Storm Warning Issued For Harford County

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning calling for several inches of snow.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — There could be up to 7 inches of snow on the ground by Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service. It has issued a winter storm warning for parts of Baltimore and Harford counties because conditions could make travel impossible or hazardous.

The winter storm warning is in effect from 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, to 4 a.m. on Monday, March 4.

It calls for 4 to 7 inches of snow in northern Baltimore and Harford counties.

Snow will blanket the region between 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday, according to the warning. It will be heaviest from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday, with snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour. Snow could mix with sleet and rain Sunday night, according to the warning.

Precipitation will be steady late Sunday afternoon and evening, and drivers should expect roads to be slippery, officials warned.

A winter storm warning means that severe winter weather conditions are forecast, making it dangerous to travel.

Southeastern Harford and southern Baltimore counties are under a winter weather advisory from 2 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday calling for 3 to 6 inches of snow and sleet.

These other areas are under separate winter storm warnings from noon Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday:

  • Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties — 4 to 8 inches of snow
  • Howard and Montgomery counties — 3 to 6 inches of snow

Those going outside should watch for slippery or icy sidewalks, driveways, steps and roads.

Drivers should keep an extra flashlight as well as food and water in case of an emergency.
