High-End Mediterranean Restaurant To Open At Cabin John Village Shopping Center

POTOMAC, MD — The Grove, a high-end restaurant with a Mediterranean menu, is scheduled to open in July in the Cabin John Village shopping center in Potomac, led by an executive chef with impressive credentials.

The new restaurant’s menu will feature dishes associated with coastal Spain, Italy and Greece, Eater DC reported.

The Grove’s executive chef will be Jose Lopez-Picazo, who has worked under José Andrés in D.C. He also worked in Las Vegas at the Picasso restaurant, which earned two Michelin stars and the James Beard Award for outstanding restaurant during his time there, according to the report.

"At The Grove, he’ll be offering new takes on dishes like lamb shank, grilled octopus, tuna tartar, duck breast and Iberico chorizo," Store Reporter wrote about Lopez-Picazo, who trained in Madrid.

The Grove has leased the vacant restaurant space formerly home to Lahinch Tavern and Grill at 7747 Tuckerman Lane.

Common Plate Hospitality, based in Alexandria, is the company behind The Grove. It owns other D.C. area restaurants, including Mason Social, Urbano, Augie’s Mussel House and Junction Bistro.

Cabin John Village has been undergoing major renovations since 2016 when it was acquired by D.C.-based real estate owner and developer Edens. Other recent and planned business openings in the shopping center include Chopt, Capo Deli and The Scoop.
