BETHESDA, MD — Pollo Campero, a fast-food chicken chain, has leased a space next to Panda Express at Westfield Montgomery Mall’s dining terrace food court in Bethesda and is planning to open this coming winter, according to a report.

A planned winter 2023 opening “should mean a chance to enjoy Pollo Campero chicken while working on your holiday shopping list this December,” Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row reported Sunday.

The coming soon sign for Pollo Campero at Westfield Montgomery says that its food is "crafted to taste like home."

Pollo Campero, owned by Guatemala-based conglomerate Corporación Multi Inversiones, plans to invest about $190 million over the next five years on expanding in the United States, Franchise Times reported in May.

Founded in 1971 in Guatemala, the fast-food chain has 86 locations in the United States, including five in suburban Maryland and one in Frederick. It also has one location in Washington, D.C., and several in Northern Virginia.

“Our fried chicken is specially hand-breaded. Our signature drinks and sides are prepared fresh daily. Our garden-fresh salads are made in house, every single day,” Pollo Campero says on its website.

“And yes, it’s a lot of hard work. But for us, that’s important. Those extra steps ensure that every bite is as wholesome and as flavorful as the last. And that’s something we believe should never change,” the restaurant says.
