Baby Bird Rescued From Storm Drain By Howard County Firefighters, Reunited With Scared Mom

Howard County firefighters were called to help rescue a baby bird from a storm drain after residents heard the baby frantically chirping.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — When residents in Elkridge heard a baby bird chirping from down inside a storm drain, they investigated. The residents found the baby's mom desperately trying to get inside the storm drain.

So they contacted the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, which sent out engine 11 and its firefighters to help.

Firefighters didn't hesitate and slid down into the storm drain to retrieve the baby bird and return it to its mom. They shared photos of the rescue on their Facebook page.
