Man Fatally Shot In Severn Backyard: Police

A man was fatally shot in a Severn backyard, police said. Officers called it a targeted shooting.

SEVERN, MD — A man was fatally shot this weekend in a Severn backyard, police said.

Officers identified the victim as 34-year-old Keion McKinney of Severn.

Authorities said they were called to the 1600 block of Meade Village Circle on Friday at 7:19 p.m. That's located in the Meade Village neighborhood.

Police said they found the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds behind a building.

McKinney was pronounced dead on the scene, officers said.

"Preliminary information indicates the victim exited a townhome and was shot by a male suspect in the rear yard," the Anne Arundel County Police Department said in a press release. "The suspect subsequently fled the scene. This appears to be a targeted incident, and there is no threat to the community."
