Gaithersburg Woman Wins $50K On Instant Cash Scratch-Off Game From Maryland Lottery

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Gaithersburg woman who plays Maryland Lottery scratch-off tickets for fun got lucky recently when she won $50,000 on a ticket she bought at a Silver Spring convenience store, according to a release.

“Playing the Lottery is fun,” she said. “I love playing scratch-offs.”

The 51-year-old woman told lottery officials that she plays scratch-off games with her husband every week.

“I always finds myself winning and I consider myself lucky," said the Gaithersburg resident, She's won small amounts before but nothing like the $50,000 she won on an instant ticket she bought for $20 at the 7-Eleven #32389 located at 7980 Georgia Ave.

Stopping at the store to purchase a few other games recently, the woman bought a $50,000 Cash instant ticket for a game she'd never played before. After driving home, the woman began scratching the ticket as she walked up to the house and discovered she'd won the top prize.

“I screamed because I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy,” the woman said. Once she notified her husband and two daughters about the win, they all celebrated. “They all really consider it a blessing."

The woman told lottery officials that she plans to use her winnings to purchase a new car.

The 7-Eleven store that sold the winning instant scratch-off will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
