SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring woman on Wednesday was the first Maryland Lottery player to win $50,000 in THE BIG SPIN scratch-off game, a news release said.

The player found her winning scratch-off at Dong Phuong Market, 8545 Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring. After opting for the $5 instant ticket, the Montgomery County resident quickly scratched it off and showed it to the store clerk. The clerk told her the ticket was a winner, but she would have to visit Lottery headquarters to claim the prize because of its size.

“Shocked” and “happy” are the words she used to describe her feelings about her big win to Lottery officials. The winner said she is excited and hasn’t made any plans yet for enjoying her windfall.
