MA Seaside Pizzeria Makes NY Times' List Of Nation's Best

A pizza restaurant that also specializes in oysters has made The New York Times' rankings of the 22 best in the country.

MASSACHUSETTS — A Massachusetts pizzeria has made The New York Times' list of the best 22 in the country.

The list comprises every corner of the United States, "from small New England towns to the Mississippi Delta to rural Iowa to Los Angeles to Alaska."

Short & Main in Gloucester received the distinction in Massachusetts.

The Times wrote: "Short & Main is a Neapolitan pizzeria crossed with a New England oyster bar... The restaurant is so close to the waterfront, you’re likely to find sea gulls resting on cars parked out front. That proximity is reflected in the seafood offerings, especially the raw oysters."

Short & Main opened in 2013 and offers a variety of wood-fired pizzas.

The only other New England pizzeria on the list is The Tillerman in Bristol, Vermont.

Last year, Santarpio's in Boston made Food & Wine's list of the best pizzerias in the country. That restaurant offers a traditional take on everyone's favorite pie and was also featured in the Daily Meal's rankings.
