MA Power Outages: 350,000+ In Dark

The outages are rapidly worsening as the storm intensifies.

The newest nor'easter is intensifying across Massachusetts into early Thursday morning. More than 300,000 power customers were in the dark as of 6:45 a.m., according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. Patch will be updating power outages throughout Thursday, so check back often.

Southern Worcester County and the Merrimack Valley are seeing the worst of it. Tyngsborough had 96 percent of households without power Thursday, nearly 5,000 customers. Millbury had more than 5,000 customers - nearly 85 percent - without power.

North Andover and Westford also had over 5,000 without power. Tewksbury and Billerica each had over 10,000 households in the dark.

The following cities and towns had more than half their customers without power: Hamilton, Douglas, Millbury, Grafton, Tyngsborough, Westford, Norton, Upton, Mendon, Sutton, Franklin, Oxford, Chelmsford, Dracut, Amesbury, Topsfield, Haverhill, Essex, Tewksbury, Billerica, Lincoln, Marlborough, Bolton, Westborough, Holliston, Northborough, Southborough, Norfolk, Dover, Andover and North Andover.

Boxford, Newbury, West Newbury, Newburyport, Salisbury and Berlin had either 99 or 100 percent without power Thursday morning.

The outages come as rain turned to heavy snow in Eastern Mass. late Wednesday night. Dozens of school districts from across the state were canceling classes. Check out our updated school closings list here.

More than 400,000 were without power in the aftermath of last Friday's storm. Many communities, mostly along the coast south of Boston, just got power back Tuesday night.
