Free Coffee, Breakfast For Braintree Teachers Amid Budget Debate

The future of some Braintree teachers is uncertain as the school budget sits in limbo. Breakfast? Not so cloudy thanks to a generous local.

Jon Wilson, a pastor at Life Community Church, took to social media this week to share that the church will pay for any Braintree teacher's coffee and breakfast sandwich on Thursday and Friday this week at The Casual Cup Cafe.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree teachers and school faculty are having a stressful April.

The Fiscal Year 2025 school budget currently hangs in the balance with uncertainty regarding potential staff reductions that could see dozens of teachers without a spot at Braintree schools.

As teachers are left hanging with a decision about their futures at least until later this month, a local church and cafe have partnered to give them something to look forward to.

Jon Wilson, a pastor at Life Community Church, took to social media this week to share that the church will pay for any Braintree teacher's coffee and breakfast sandwich on Thursday and Friday this week.

"One of the things I love about this town is the great schools that we have, and the teachers and programs that make them so great," Wilson said. "We know that right now there's a bit of a crisis in trying to understand what to do with our budget and funding our schools, and if we at Life Community Church had $8 million that we could spend and give to the town we gladly would."

As you may have guessed, that isn't an option for the folks at Life Community, but Wilson still wanted to find a way to show his appreciation.

"What we can do is try to say thank you in a different way," Wilson said.
