Falmouth Organizes Commercial Shellfish Permit Lottery

The Town will hold a lottery to award new commercial shellfish permits in 2024. Permits will first be made available to junior diggers. Junior applicants must be 16 & 17 years of age only. Remaining available permits will be available to adult diggers in a second drawing. To qualify for the lottery, applicants must file a junior or adult commercial permit application with our office no later than Monday April 22, 2024, at 3:00pm. All applications received by that time and date will be entered into the lottery to be selected for an available permit. The lottery will be held at the Marina Building, 180 Scranton Ave, Falmouth, MA 02540 at 3:00pm on April 26, 2024. The lottery will be open to the public for viewing. All successful applicants will have to provide satisfactory proof of residency in Falmouth for 6 months, proof of age for junior applicants, copy of their state shellfish transaction card, and pay the annual $300.00 permit fee prior to issuance of the town permit.
