MILFORD, MA — Outdoor seating at the Milford Rail Trail Flatbread restaurant will continue through the summer months.

The new downtown restaurant received formal permission from the select board on Monday for an outdoor seating permit. The restaurant had a public hearing on March 28, after which Town Manager Richard Villani approved the outdoor dining permit.

The fire department had asked the owners to install bollards to separate the dining area from the parking lot at the rear of the restaurant, which has been done. The town is also requiring the outdoor dining area to be handicapped accessible, including maintaining space between tables for movement and handicapped parking spaces. The outdoor seating section is behind the restaurant, not in front along Main Street.

Outdoor seating has been a popular feature of Rail Trail Flatbread Co.'s original location in Hudson. The Milford location opened on Dec. 12 after years of anticipation, meaning summer 2024 will be the restaurant's first warm weather season.
