PEABODY, MA — A Peabody brewery and tap room that launched on the eve of the COVID-19 health crisis will celebrate its five-year anniversary with two weeks of special events, and both new and returning favorite craft beers.

Granite Coast Brewing Company on Main Street will begin the two-week party on Thursday with the release of its original Noir Vanilla Bourbon Stout and a re-release of fan-favorite Poor Richard's Ale.

"We opened up in May of 2019 and shut the whole production down just ten months later when COVID hit," Head Brewer and Owner Jeff Marquis said. "I remember thinking to myself that we could survive a two-week shut-down. I never thought we’d have to go through a global pandemic.

Marquis said Noir Vanilla Bourbon Stout was a beer that he brewed as a home brewer before opening Granite Coast.

"We've been saving the release special for our five-year anniversary," he said.

Marketing and Events Director Amy Luckiewicz said the brewery has tried to make an impact in the city as a community-rich business and will honor that commitment during the anniversary celebrations.

North Shore's Breathe Clean will host a community meeting at the brewery on Thursday, there will be a Makers Series for local artists featuring Totally Coral on Saturday, live music from Joe Mack on Sunday, the North Shore PRIDE's volunteer drive on May 23 and a Donut Day with Peabody's PAL's Cakery on May 25.
