WAKEFIELD, MA — A four-alarm fire drew first responders from at least eight different departments to Wakefield on Friday, burning a home on Eastern Avenue in town.

A Wakefield firefighter was transported to an area hospital with heat-related injuries as a precaution, according to Wakefield Fire Chief Michael Sullivan.

Residents of the home, who were inside when the fire started, were able to escape without injuries.

The fire broke out just after 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Crews then saw flames showing from the home as they arrived on scene, Sullivan said in a statement.

Crews began what Sullivan described as an "immediate and aggressive attack," escalating the response to four alarms as they called for mutual aid.
