WORCESTER, MA — Downtown Worcester's newest restaurant held its grand opening Wednesday — although you might've already had a chance to try it out.

Toro Loco Taqueria owners Miguel Perez and wife Denise Medina opened the Mexican spot in July in the street-facing DCU Center space near the corner of Foster and Commercial streets. The restaurant specializes in favorites like burritos, birria tacos, churros and quesadillas.

Perez and Medina also own the Spencer location of the local Mexicali Cantina Grill chain. The recipes at their new Worcester restaurant are based on ones from the home of Jalisco, Mexico.

Toro Loco Taqueria took over inside the Commercial Street corner spot following the closure of gourmet donut shop Glazy Susan in January. The donut shopped opened in 2020 in the space previously occupied by the Figs & Pigs restaurant.

Toro Loco Taqueria is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
