The works displayed in this exhibition span almost six decades of the artist's remarkable career and include paintings, collages, mixed media, lithographs, totemic sculpture, textiles, and three-dimensional handmade paper. Highlights of the show are pieces borrowed from the Flint Institute of Arts, the University of Michigan Museum of Art, and Wayne State University.
To make his art, Johnson has drawn deeply on the shared humanity of world cultures, the music of Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, the paintings of Alma Thomas, the poetry of Dudley Randall, and the prose of Richard Wright. The artist is an avid lover of music, and it gives him inspiration and direction throughout his creative process.
The opening reception for the exhibition will be Thursday, September 12th, from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM with a talk by the artist at 6:00 PM. This event is free to the public. Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres provided.

FOUR: Lester Johnson's Selected Works

Tracy Lord, of the Philadelphia Lords, is a headstrong and spoiled daughter of the privileged class. Divorced from C.K. Dexter Haven, she now plans to wed a successful young snob. At the family estate, Tracy's wedding weekend grows more eventful as a charming gossip reporter and a camerawoman arrive to cover the occasion. The Lords scramble to avoid any hint of scandal... when ex-husband Dexter suddenly joins the party. As the wedding bells chime- if they chime- who will end up walking down the aisle with Tracy? The Philadelphia Story at the Players Guild of Dearborn is a romantic, comical delight that brings the iconic movie to life onstage in its original, theatrical form.
The show is directed by Kristen Campbell-Lynch and assistant directed by Joshua Beurer, the same directing team that brought you last season's hilarious Blithe Spirit. The cast consists of: Kori Bielaniec as Tracy Lord; Lillith Tack as Dinah Lord; Julie Ballantyne Brown as Margaret Lord; Deg Gretz as Alexander "Sandy" Lord; Alex Gojkov as C.K. Dexter Haven; David Culliton as Macaulay "Mike" Connor; Casey Murray as Elizabeth "Liz" Imbrie; Santi Ramirez as George Kitteredge; Patrick Davidson as William "Uncle Willie" Tracy; Jeff Flannery as Seth Lord; Dave Wood as Thomas; Sydney Assalley as Elsie; Samantha Reams as May; Jacob Gilman as Dr. Parsons; and Mike Parks as Mac.
The show runs 8 p.m. Sept. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28, with 2:30 p.m. Sept. 15, 22 and 29 matinees.

Leader Dogs For the Blind

Meet Dylan, a Leader Dog mom who loves belly rubs and is very playful. Dylan is excited to go home with a breeding host to get even more cuddles around the clock!
Dylan is a former show dog donated to Leader Dogs for the Blind. Our breeding team thoroughly considers the dogs put into our breeding stock pool based on traits they hold that could result in even more successful guide dog graduates. 
As a Leader Dog mom, Dylan is&nbsp;ready to bring new puppies into the world, each with the potential to change the life of someone who is blind or visually impaired.
Join us at our "Meet the Moms" open house-style&nbsp;event on Saturday, September 14 from 2 - 4 p.m. at our campus in Rochester Hills. You'll meet Leader Dog moms like Dylan, our breeding team, breeding host volunteers, whelp mentors,&nbsp;and learn more about our volunteer breeding host program.

The ACCESS 10th Arab Health Summit continues the fine tradition established in 1988 and reaffirms our strong commitment to prevent disease, reduce health disparities, and promote wellness in the community at large. This summit serves as a platform for researchers in the United States to connect with their counterparts in the Middle Eastern North African (MENA) region and elsewhere for a unique opportunity to exchange best practices and create research relationships that can build a sustainable public health infrastructure globally.
The summit theme for this year is “Advancing Health Amidst Conflict and Crisis.” Our goal is to delve into navigating the impacts of conflicts and crises on communities, from the healthcare strain induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, to the devastating health consequences of war, and the societal toll of substance use epidemics. This summit will focus on fostering sustainable health solutions in the face of these challenges, providing a platform for participants to discuss groundbreaking research findings, share impactful health programs and activities, and develop collaborative initiatives spanning across diverse countries and beyond. It's an opportunity to unite and shape the future of community health in the face of adversity.
