The two suspects, each armed with a semi-automatic black handgun, broke into the house in the 5000 block of Victoria Road around 3 a.m., tied up a man and his wife, their nanny, and two children, ages 4 and 6. A 1-year-old was not restrained, The Detroit News reports.

“While they were tied up the suspects went through the house and stole several items,” West Bloomfield Police Detective Lt. Curt Lawson said.

The father, who didn’t want his name revealed or face shown on television, told WDIV-TV the ordeal was “terrifying.”

“They come in with guns, throw you on the ground and duct tape you up,” he said. “It’s very frightening.”

He said he didn’t know if his family was targeted or if it was a random home invasion.

“We’re confused, I don’t know of anyone that – why they would target us,” Probably not, be we have no idea.’

Neighbors said they’re becoming “paranoid” about recent home invasions and almost daily car break-ins in the upscale neighborhood.

The television station said two Detroit men, ages 42 and 26, are in custody. Multiple search warrants were served in Detroit, and many of the items from the West Bloomfield home were recovered.
