An officer on Storrs Street saw a man hunched over, appearing to play with items, along the railroad tracks. The officer made contact with the man, Wentworth, who they “knew from prior police contacts.” When asked what he was doing, Wentworth said he was just collecting rocks, a report said. Knowing that he had been arrested for drugs previously, the officer asked him when the last time he had used, an affidavit said. The officer accused Wentworth of saying he used periodically but not on that day. The officer noticed a backpack and satchel beside Wentworth and asked if he possessed drugs. Wentworth “told me he might have some fentanyl on him but wasn’t sure,” possibly a half gram, the officer said. The officer asked him to open up the satchel, and Wentworth did, revealing a clear baggy with multiple other baggies inside and tinfoil, an affidavit stated, believed to be fentanyl-heroin. Another officer arrived to assist. The first officer also accused Wentworth of possessing another baggy with a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Wentworth was then arrested.
