According to police, officers were sent to an apartment on Thompson Street for an assault call.

The reporting officer spoke with a man who “appeared anxious,” had a shirt that was stretched, and was speaking fast. He stated he was having a beer and playing video games when he heard a boom at the door. Then, he heard another bang. The man stated he warned whoever was at the door that he was calling police if the person didn’t leave and a second later, a neighbor, Atwood, allegedly barged into his apartment. The man was sitting in the a chair when Atwood reportedly “came in swinging.”

The apartment, the officer noted, was in disarray, with beer on the floor as well as a fan and chair that had been knocked over. There was also damage to the front door near the locking mechanism, damaged radiators, and one of the apartment walls was also cracked. A Play Station game console was also knocked to the floor.

The officer then went down to the other apartment to see if he could find Atwood. After making contact with him, the officer alleged that he was “shaking, his hands were wringing, and he had trouble putting his thoughts into words,” according to the report. When asked what happened, Atwood reportedly said he did not know. The officer observed that Atwood had wounds that looked like he had been in a fight. After continuing to speak about the incident with the officer, he was arrested.

Atwood was scheduled to be arraigned on June 15.
