Antonio Joseph Perillo, 27, of Pasture Drive in Franklin was arrested at 1 p.m. on Sept. 7 on a theft by unauthorized taking, a felony due to two prior convictions. At around 9:15 a.m. on July 29, police were sent to Walmart at 344 Loudon Road for a theft report. A loss prevention employee said a man and woman came into the store, concealed items into a backpack, and left the store without paying. The man was wearing a Poison T-shirt, black shorts, and the backpack had a Reebok logo on it. The man attempted to slide some items through a fence in the patio section. Those items, the employee said, were recovered. The man then re-entered the store, purchased some items, but left with stolen items — a Hart drill and a 20-volt Hart charger, valued at $168. The man was confronted at the exit but did not surrender and walked east. He was seen getting into a black Volkswagen GTI parked in a separate parking lot. The officer viewed surveillance footage and confirmed what the employee said, saying the suspect also stole a backpack and carried bolt cutters to the lawn and garden area in an effort to pry open a fence, a report said. The officer ran the vehicle's plate and found it was registered to a woman. While searching for connected parties, the officer identified Perillo as a suspect. “I compared booking photographs to still images from security footage provided by the (loss prevention employee), which closely resembled one another,” the officer wrote. “The still images also showed a tattoo on the suspect’s right forearm, which matched the tattoo listed in Antonio’s name file. The tattoo on file is a fox logo with a skull.” On Aug. 4, the officer spoke with a detective in Belmont who was familiar with Perillo. She shared the images with other officers and they were able to positively identify him as the suspect four days later, an affidavit said. Perillo has been convicted of felony theft by unauthorized taking with a deadly weapon in October 2016 out of Belknap County Superior Court and felony theft due to two prior convictions out of Salem from Rockingham County Superior Court in April 2019.
