Ashton Everett Garland, 29, a homeless man now located in Concord was arrested at 3:40 a.m. on Jan. 16 on two possession of controlled drug charges as well as criminal mischief, criminal trespass, breach of bail, and resisting arrest or detention charges as well as a warrant and a bench warrant. He was arrested after an incident at Cumberland Farms on Manchester Street. According to an affidavit from Bow police, a warrant was issued for Garland's arrest on four criminal threatening charges. Police were sent to Bow Bog Road for a report of an incident on Dec. 28, 2020. The residents of the household stated a woman with a baby showed up but the couple did not want the woman or child in their home. Not long after the incident, one of the residents reported receiving a phone call from Garland who was "very rude" about the entire matter, the affidavit stated. After the phone call, text messages began to appear on two cellphones of the occupants with threats of violence, including death threats, threats against animals, an arson threat, and other comments, from Garland's phone number, according to the affidavit. "I'm going to kill her and I'm going to kill you both," one message said, the report added. The officer noted there were many grammatical and spelling errors in the text messages. When asked about this, the witnesses said Garland "commonly texts with similar typos and errors," and they knew it was him sending the messages, the report said. A warrant was issued with a stop and hold to surrounding agencies. He was arrested by Concord police a couple of weeks later. Garland is due back in court to face the drug charges on March 30 in Merrimack County Superior Court.
