Danville Man Arrested In Mass. Accused Of Fatally Shooting His Mom

DANVILLE, NH — Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Executive Major Matthew S. Shapiro, and Danville Police Chief Wade Parsons announce that James Coe, 20, has been charged with second-degree murder for knowingly killing his mother, Denise Damato-Coe, 59, in Danville last week.

Damato-Coe’s body was found inside her home on the late evening of Aug. 3 by officers responding to a 911 call for help. Upon arrival, officers discovered Damato-Coe deceased inside her home.

The following day an autopsy by Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie Duval determined the cause of Damato-Coe’s death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of her death was a homicide.

On Wednesday, a warrant was issued for Coe charging him with murder for causing the death of his mother by shooting her with a rifle, as well as falsifying physical evidence, for knowingly altering, concealing, and removing the gun used to commit the crime.

Coe was arrested on a warrant in Revere, Massachusetts, on Wednesday and charged with being a fugitive from justice. He is currently being held without bail.

It is anticipated that he will be arraigned in Chelsea District Court at a hearing to be scheduled in the near future, followed by extradition proceedings to New Hampshire.
