Michael Wayne Durgin, 44, of Loudon Road in Pittsfield was arrested at 1:48 p.m. on Sept. 24 on a theft by unauthorized taking charge, a felony due to two prior convictions. Police were sent to Walmart on Loudon Road for a report of two shoplifters in custody. An officer spoke to two loss prevention officers who accused Rhonda Follansbee, 42, and Durgin of filling up a cart, paying for about $54 worth of items, and walking out of the store without paying for the rest of the items, valued at more than $300. Follansbee was asked why the items were not paid for and was accused of telling the officer she thought the items had all been scanned. The officer eyed the video and confirmed the allegations made by the loss prevention employees — including accusing Durgin of leaving the store without paying for a Monster energy drink valued at $2.28. A check found that he had been convicted on a felony theft by deception charge in October 2017 and a felony theft by unauthorized taking charge in October 2014, both in Merrimack County Superior Court.

Parker Matheu Peavey, 18, of Summer Street in Penacook was arrested at 11:19 a.m. on Sept. 29 on a felony possession of a controlled drug charge. On Aug. 7, police were involved in an investigation of a suspicious person in the area of High and Shaw streets who turned out to be an unsupervised juvenile. The teen appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine due to dilated pupils, fidgety movements, and was talking fast, a report said. The teen was accused of admitting to the original reporting officer that he had smoked marijuana, drank alcohol, and took meth earlier in the evening and was taken into protective custody. During a search, police located a plastic baggie with a pill container that contained a crystal material believed to be meth, 14 marijuana joints, and THC vaporizers, according to an affidavit. On Sept. 27, a field test was performed on the crystal substance and it was confirmed to be meth, a report said. One of the joints was tested and was also positive for marijuana. A warrant was then issued to the teen, identified as Peavey, who turned 18 earlier in the month. Peavey was arraigned on Oct. 19 in Merrimack County Superior Court.
