Wrong-Way DWI Driver Goes 14 Miles Before Being Stopped: Troopers

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police arrested a Maine woman on a driving while intoxicated charge Sunday after accusing her driving of wrong way on Interstate 95 and Route 16. At around 3:15 a.m., troopers received reports of an SUV driving north in the southbound lane of I-95 in Greenland. As they responded to the area, they received more calls about an SUV driving north on Route 16 in the southbound lane. State police requested that southbound traffic by held at the Dover tollbooth and headed to that area instead.

"One of the responding troopers located the vehicle as it was approached the Dover tolls and was abler to stop it," police Lt. John Hennessey of Troop A said.

The driver, Theresa Ronco, 47, of South Portland, Maine, was questioned and accused of showing "multiple signs of alcohol impairment." She was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless conduct and DWI.

Ronco was taken to the Newington Police Department, processed, and released on bond. She is due in Strafford County Superior Court on Sept. 19. According to online maps, Ronco was accused of traveling around 14 miles between Greenland and Dover.

6 Arrested In 2 DWI Checkpoints

State troopers from Troop B conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Route 101, with the help of police from Bedford. Three individuals were arrested after 267 vehicles were screened. Twelve drivers were given field sobriety tests during the checkpoint, which ran from 9 p.m. on Friday through 3 a.m. Saturday.

Arrested were: Joseph Wilhelmi, 27, of Goffstown, on a DWI charge; Grace Alati, 28, of Goffstown, on a DWI-subsequent charge; and Michael Dunn, 56, of Bennington, on a DWI charge.

Troop E troopers as well as Conway, Jackson, Bartlett, and Madison police held a checkpoint between 9 p.m. Aug. 31 and 3 a.m. Sept. 1 in the Mount Washington Valley Area. Officers stopped 55 vehicles while issuing summonses for speeding and license violations.

Three people were arrested: Matthew Raia, 48, of Ayer, Massachusetts, on a DWI charge (a passenger in Raia's vehicle was taken into protective custody); Joshua Kozacka, 29, of Madison, was arrested on an operating after suspension-subsequent charge; and Christopher Gately, 35, of Norwood, MA, was arrested on a DWI charge (a passenger in his vehicle was taken into protective custody).

Canaan Man Charged With DWI After Crash

A Canaan man was arrested in Springfield Thursday after crashing into a tree on Philbrick Hill Road.

First responders were sent to a report of the driver of a Mazda crossing over the center line into the opposite lane, going off the road, and crashing into a tree. The passenger of the vehicle needed to be extricated from the vehicle, according to state police. Both the driver, Jody Barry, 24, and the passenger were taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Barry was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and will be arraigned in Sullivan County Superior Court Sept. 19. State police were assisted by Springfield fire and rescue teams, Grantham fire and rescue teams, troopers from Troop D, and Grantham police.

Elderly Man Arrested On Child Sex Images Charge

Dean Carleton, 75, of Sandwich, was arrested Aug. 19, on a possession of child sexual abuse images charge after an investigation by state police, Sandwich police and the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Carleton due in Carroll County Superior Court on Sept. 12.

Donna Hughes, 65, of Hampton, was arrested on a bench warrant on Aug. 12, on Route 16 South.

Kenny Nguyen, 36, of Epping, was arrested on Aug. 12, was arrested on DUI and DUI-adult greater than 0.08 charges as well as a yellow/solid line violation. About two hours later, he was arrested on DUI and breach of bail charges on Calef Highway in Epping.

Rachel Hamel-Chandler, 40, of Exeter, was arrested on Aug. 11, 2019, on a DUI charge on I-95 South in Hampton.

Joshua White, 31, of Hampton, was arrested on a bench warrant on Aug. 11, in Seabrook.

Matthew Ford, 24, of North Andover, Massachusetts, was arrested on Aug. 11, on aggravated DUI-30+ mph, DUI, and speeding-26+ mph over the 55 limit on I-95 South in Portsmouth.

Jules Jefferson, 29, of Danvers, MA, was arrested on Aug. 11, on a DUI charge as well as a yellow/solid line violation on Ocean Boulevard at Haverhill Street in Seabrook.

Brian Flynn, 47, of Stoneham, MA, was arrested on Aug. 11, on aggravated DUI-30+ mph, DUI, and speeding-26+ mph over the 55 limit on I-95 South in Portsmouth.

Wilian Lopez, 35, of Chelsea, MA, was arrested on an operating without a valid license charge on I-95 North in Hampton.

Carrie Thorburn, 50, of Malden, MA, was arrested on Aug. 10, on a DUI charge on I-95 South in Hampton Falls.

Alexandria Iannotti, 22, of Nashua, was arrested on a DUI charge on the Everett Turnpike North near Exit 7E in Nashua on Aug. 15.

Qurtimiya Bonds, 41, of Derry, was arrested on Aug. 14, on a driving after revocation or suspension-subsequent charge on I-293 North near Exit 1 in Manchester.

Rachel Barris, 22, of Hollis, was arrested on Aug. 14, on DUI and reckless conduct charges on I-293 South in Manchester.

Emily Trubey, 21, of Nashua, was arrested on Aug. 14, on aggravated DUI-0.16+, DUI-adult greater than 0.08, and DUI on the Everett Turnpike South in Merrimack.

Joshua Kuhn, 30, of Pittsfield, was arrested on Aug. 13, on a conduct after an accident-property damage charge on I-393 East in Concord.

Brandon Huff, 40, of Wilmot, was arrested on Aug. 12, on simple assault and resisting arrest or detention charges on Pine Hill Road.
