Mother: Truck Flew Through Air After Driver Asked if Friends 'Liked Speed'

The mother of one of the teens injured in a recent accident is reportedly "extremely frustrated" by the lack of charges.

The mother of a Quebec, Canada, teen seriously injured after the truck in which she was riding is hoping Hampton police issue charges to the driver of the vehicle, according to Foster's Daily Democrat.

Foster's reported that Sylvie Prevost, who identified herself as the mother of 17-year-old Emilie Cloutier, wrote in an e-mail to the paper she is extremely frustrated with police for not issuing charges. Foster's reported Prevost said the July 8 accident was caused after the driver, 19-year-old Exeter resident Christopher J. Hardy, allegedly asked Cloutier and a friend if they "liked speed" before accelerating the truck.

Hampton-North Hampton Patch previously reported police believe the truck near the intersection with Mill Pond Lane. The truck allegedly went off the roadway and was sent "airborne" after colliding with a rock, and stopped after striking a utility pole, according to police.

Cloutier was transported to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston for "serious" internal injuries, while Hardy and passengers Corey Nardone, 22, of Hampton, and Virginie Clusiault, 19, of Quebec, Canada, were transported to local hospitals for minor injuries, according to police.

Prevost reportedly told Foster's her daughter will be hospitalized for about four to six weeks with several injuries and fractures. Deputy Police Chief Rich Sawyer reportedly told Foster's he understands Prevost's "concern," and said the department wants to complete a "thorough investigation" before pursuing charges.
