Souhegan Valley Chorus invites individuals who love to sing to join us at the upcoming Open Rehearsals of our 2024 Fall Season! 
The Souhegan Valley Chorus is an unauditioned community chorus directed by Jennifer Erdody and accompanied by Kimberly Vars Whitehead. SVC singers range in age from High School to Senior, have a wide range of abilities and experience, and come from towns throughout the Souhegan Valley. SVC performs a variety of choral music genres and puts on two concerts each year, including our Holiday Concert in December. The Souhegan Valley Chorus can also be heard singing at various local community events throughout the year.
SVC’s weekly rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm in the First Congregational Church in Milford, NH from September to December. The first two rehearsals of the Fall Season are “open” for interested vocalists to visit and learn about SVC. Open rehearsals will be held on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024 &amp; on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024. Registration starts at 6:30pm and rehearsal will begin at 7pm. SVC looks forward to singing with you!

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and&nbsp;support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the&nbsp;ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the&nbsp;lives of those we love and care about. Money raised from this event will go to critical&nbsp;research, education programs, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.

Andres Institute Sculpture Park

Hip jazz club style &amp; vibe, New York City’s rising jazz star, AND a terrific 19-piece big band - all together to support a great visual arts symposium! That’s what’s in store on Saturday September 21st when the Compaq Big Band and Special Guest Vocalist Anaïs Reno perform in concert to support the Andres Institute of Art (AIA) in Brookline, NH as part of their 24th Annual International Sculpture Symposium. This will be Anaïs’ second appearance in New Hampshire, having wowed the crowd in her Granite State debut just last month at the Park Theatre in Jaffrey. Come earlier in the day to hike the sculpture park – explore 140 acres with 12 miles of trails - featuring over 100 creations. Since Anaïs’ public Boston debut with us just three short months ago at City Winery, this rising New York City jazz star has been busy performing in her hometown, and in Boston, St. Louis, Philadelphia (where one of her frequent jazz club venues named an ice cream after her…), San Francisco, London, Edinburgh, Lake Tahoe, and more. On September 21st she’ll be singing arrangements from the Great American Songbook as performed by Ella Fitzgerald with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, as well as other jazz classics as sung by Ella, Carmen McRae, Anita O’Day, Helen O’Connell, and more. A few very hip, more modern takes on timeless vocals will be sprinkled in, such as John Clayton’s powerful version of “Fever”. And, we’ll round out the evening with a few tasty instrumental arrangements from the likes of Chris Walden, Sammy Nestico, and Gordon Goodwin. Anaïs began singing the Great American Songbook at the age of eight, and has been performing at legendary Birdland Jazz Club in Times Square since she was thirteen. A graduate of the acclaimed Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music &amp; Art and Performing Arts in NYC, she is an Ella Fitzgerald Scholar who just beginning her senior year at Purchase College (SUNY Purchase) in New York, majoring in vocal jazz performance. Among her many accolades, she won the Ben Tucker Jazz Award at the 2023 American Traditions Competition, took First Place at the 2020 Mabel Mercer Foundation competition, received the 2020 Julie Wilson Award, was awarded Second Place at the 2018 Michael Feinstein’s Great American Song Book Academy competition, and earned the 2016 Forte International Competition’s Platinum Award. Anaïs appears regularly at iconic music venues such as Dizzy's, Birdland, Chris’ Jazz Club in Philadelphia, and at PizzaExpress in London. Her first album, “Lovesome Thing: Anaïs Reno sings Ellington &amp; Strayhorn”, debuted in 2021, and is a 12-song compilation of 100% Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn collaborations that rose quickly to #6 on the jazz charts. Her second album - “Anaïs Reno at PizzaExpress Live - in London“ - was recorded last year at the iconic club’s trendy Soho flagship location. The Chronic Pain Self-Management Program (CPSMP) is a workshop that is held once a week for two and a half hours, for six consecutive weeks (seven weeks for virtual workshops). 
Workshops are lead by two trained leaders, one or both of whom are peers with chronic pain themselves.
In this workshop, participants will:
Discover problem-solving strategies to deal with fatigue, pain, frustration, isolation and poor sleep
Uncover physical activities for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance
Learn how to pace activity and when to rest
Discover the importance of good nutrition in pain management
Improve communication with family, friends and health professionals
Understand appropriate use of medications and how to evaluate new treatments
Benefit from support and encouragement from others also living with chronic pain.
