DANVILLE, NH — The investigation into what has been labeled as a woman's suspicious death at a residence on Back Road remains an active investigation.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Agati gave a brief update Friday afternoon in front of the Danville Town Hall. He said this case was a very active investigation involving multiple agencies, including the Danville police, New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit, and the Attorney General’s Office.

At this time, there is no suspect in custody, and no warrants have been issued, he said. When asked if the public is in danger with a potential murder suspect on the loose, Agati said there is no specific information that the public was in danger.

Danville police responded to 48 Back Road late Thursday night and discovered a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Agati said an autopsy is being performed today and will determine the number of gunshot wounds and classify the manner of death. The investigation included locating the weapon used in the shooting.

A neighbor told reporters she heard multiple gunshots and relayed the information to police.

Agati was asked how the call came to authorities and he said a call originated from inside the home to 911.

The autopsy results were expected later Friday and at that time the Attorney General’s Office said the victim's name may be released.

Patch will update as additional information becomes available.
