BARNEGAT, NJ — There will be a small increase in taxes in the 2023 Barnegat Township municipal budget, which was adopted at a recent Township Committee meeting.

The $33,139,000 budget has an increase in municipal purpose tax of one penny, Township CFO Tom Lombarski said. This is the sixth year in a row that Barnegat has done so, he said.

"It was a concerted effort on everybody to be able to put this budget together and maintain just a one cent increase," he said.

The small increase means that the average homeowner will pay an extra $27 in taxes each year, according to the budget.

Cost increases like the 22 percent health insurance increase, inflation and more made putting the budget together a challenge, Lombarski said, but he said it was his pleasure to put it together.

"I'm just very happy with this budget," Lombarski said.
