Former Steakhouse Reborn As New Restaurant In Nutley: The Hudson Rose

The Hudson Rose will be opening later this summer in Nutley. Here's what to expect at the former home of the Franklin Steakhouse.

NUTLEY, NJ — When you walk into the space that used to house the now-shuttered Franklin Steakhouse in Nutley, there’s a good chance you won’t recognize the new restaurant that now stands in its place: The Hudson Rose.

That’s the pitch from the soon-to-open eatery’s ownership, which is anticipating a grand opening for the fully renovated restaurant at 238 Franklin Avenue later this summer.

The Hudson Rose is the newest creation of the GAC Hospitality team, who opened Pop’s Corner in Point Pleasant Beach last summer. Headed by co-owners Brian Neiman and his father-in-law, Bruce Fischer, the team is getting ready to launch its latest venture, a “New York-style” restaurant and event space that can accommodate up to 200 guests.

Guests can expect to find a menu laden with classic American fare that is co-mingled with other global influences, including those of Italy and Asia, its owners said:

“While the menu will offer many classics, there will also be must-try dishes ranging from Short Rib Poutine at brunch, Dry Aged Duck Breast for dinner, or a simple-yet-incredible burger at every meal period. The restaurant will feature a temperature-controlled, 500+ bottle wine cellar on display in the main dining room; the core list of approximately 100 selections hits all the categories for wine lovers including fan favorites and some more funky offerings for the adventurous palate. Guests can expect cocktails using fresh ingredients to change with the seasons, and beers on tap and bottles to follow suit sourcing from local markets and breweries.”

Guests can also expect to walk into a space that is dramatically different from its previous incarnation, its owners say:

“Maxey Hayse Design Studio have brought to life a fusion of tradition and innovation, with classic brick walls juxtaposed with vegan leather banquettes, mid-century seating, and a reclaimed wood bar in the first-floor dining area. An expansive, repositioned staircase leads to the loft-like Harlow Room event space, where wide windows bathe the room in natural light. A functional 27-foot-high glass folding wall can divide the space, which is marked by subtle, modern details: a bar of wood, metal and white quartz, warm wood floors and an adjacent lounge area. The Harlow Room can accommodate gatherings of 40 to 200+ guests, with myriad options from seated, multi-course dining to a cocktail party with passed hors d'oeuvres.”

The Hudson Rose team has enlisted the aid of a former “Chopped” champion that has been making waves in the culinary world – chef Andrew Riccatelli – who recently served as the corporate executive chef for Tao Group Hospitality in New York City.

The restaurant also plans to offer take-out orders through Uber Eats, Door Dash, Toast Take Out, Seamless, Grubhub starting in August 2024.
