NUTLEY, NJ — Several cases of vehicle-related crimes and “suspicious incidents” were recently reported in Nutley, authorities announced Monday.

The Nutley Police Department released the following details about recent incidents in the township:

June 22 (ATTEMPTED THEFT FROM VEHICLE- MOUNTAINVIEW AVENUE) – A resident contacted headquarters to report an attempted theft from their vehicle. They said two people were seen running up their driveway. One of them entered the vehicle and attempted to start it. The suspects couldn’t start the vehicle and fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV, police said.

June 22 (MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT- RHODA AVENUE) – A resident contacted headquarters to report their vehicle was stolen from their driveway. They stated their wallet was inside the vehicle and their bank contacted them regarding two fraudulent charges made on their card. They advised that they had canceled the accounts. The vehicle was recovered in Irvington, police said.

June 22 (THEFT FROM VEHICLE- RHODA AVENUE) – A told advised officers that their wallet was stolen from inside their vehicle. They stated they had already contacted their bank and closed the accounts associated with the cards in their wallet. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information, police said.

June 23 (SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT- BLOOMFIELD AVENUE) – A Nutley resident reported a suspicious incident at police headquarters. The resident said that they saw a woman get out of a vehicle and walk into their driveway, capture photos or video of their vehicle and leave the scene, police said.

June 28 (SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT- KINGSLAND STREET) – A resident said they saw two people get out of an unknown black sedan and walk up to their vehicle in their driveway. The two suspects appeared to attempt to enter the vehicle, but were unsuccessful because it was locked. The surrounding area was canvassed for further information, police said.

July 5 (ATTEMPTED THEFT FROM VEHICLE- RENNER AVENUE) – A resident reported that two men attempted to enter their vehicle in their driveway. The suspects also tried to enter their neighbors’ vehicle. The men then fled the scene in a blue Honda Accord, police said.
