Trash Pickers, Scrappers Reported In Clark After Ida Flooding

As residents continue to clean up after Tropical Storm Ida, some are reporting trash pickers and scrappers in their neighborhoods.

CLARK, NJ — As residents continue to clean up after Tropical Storm Ida, some are reporting trash pickers and scrappers in their neighborhoods.

The Clark Police said they are receiving many calls over the past few days about trash pickers and scrappers.

"Should you see someone picking through the trash outside of your homes, do not approach them. Please call the non-emergency line and we will dispatch an officer to advise them," said police.

Police also shared the town ordinance for Tampering With Receptacles or Removing Contents:

"No person shall tamper with, take or remove any of the contents from any public or private receptacle containing garbage, refuse, rubbish, junk or any other waste material which has been placed or deposited along any public highway, Street, Lane or alleyway for collection by the township or any of its agents or servants," according to the ordinance.
