East Brunswick 2023 Election: Who's Running, Where To Vote

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The general election in New Jersey is Tuesday, Nov. 7. Here is what East Brunswick voters need to know before they hit the polls.

This general election, school board seats will be on the ballot. Early in-person voting began Oct. 28.

Who is on the ballot?

Board Of Education

East Brunswick voters will choose from a list of six candidates when they cast their ballots for the Board of Education this November.

They are:

• Adam Altman
• Mark Carangelo (For The Kids)
• Timothy Cummings
• Laurie Herrick
• Dhar Khona (For The Kids)
• Laurie Lachs

District 18 Senator

Two candidates are running for Senator in District 18, for a four-year term. They are:

• Patrick J. Diegnan (D)
• Neal Shah (R)

District 18 Assembly

Four candidates are seeking a two-year term for two assembly seats. They are

• Robert Karabinchak (D)
• Sterley S. Stanley (D)
• Teresa A. Hutchison (R)
• Joseph C. Wolak (R)

When And How To Vote

There are three ways to vote this election - early voting, vote by mail and at the polling location. Early Voting: Oct. 28 – Nov. 5.

“As Americans, voting is not only our right, but our responsibility to shape the society we want to live in and to preserve our democracy,” said Middlesex County Clerk Nancy J. Pinkin. “With multiple accessible options, Middlesex County wants every resident to be educated and take advantage of the voting method that suits their needs, as every vote counts.”

Mail-In Ballot: Voters can choose one of the following options to return their Mail-In Ballot:

• Mail the ballot through the United States Postal Service. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked on or before 8 pm on General Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.
• Properly postmarked Mail-In Ballots must be received by the County Board of Elections by 8 pm on Nov. 13.
• Take it directly to the Board of Elections’ Office, 26 Kennedy Boulevard, Suite B, East Brunswick before 8 pm on General Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.
• Drop the ballot in a designated Middlesex County Board of Elections drop box by 8 pm on Nov. 7.

Eligible voters can also drop off their mail-in ballot at these locations:

• East Brunswick Board of Elections, 26-B Kennedy Blvd. Drop box is located in the parking lot to the right of the building.
• East Brunswick Municipal Complex, 1 Civic Drive. Drop box is located between the parking lot and the East Brunswick Municipal Complex Building near the police entrance.

Election Day: The general election is on Tuesday, Nov. 7, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In-person voting is available to all registered voters in Middlesex County. Voters may vote in person at their assigned polling place on General Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. All polling locations can be found on the County website or on the top left corner of the sample ballot, which will be mailed two weeks prior to the General Election.

Polling locations will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on General Election Day.
