EDISON – An Edison resident has a presumptive positive case of the new coronavirus, officials said.

The township said the person was diagnosed with COVID-19 following a cruise. There is no known community interaction at this time.

Edison Township has been notified that the 74-year-old township male resident is a presumptive positive case for COVID-19.

The Edison resident was one of two people in Middlesex County who was diagnosed with the virus, officials announced on Wednesday. The other person is from East Brunswick. Read more: Two Presumptive Positive Coronavirus Cases In Middlesex County

Presumptive positive means the person tested positive in state labs. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ultimately confirms the test. So far, 100 percent of the state's positive tests have been confirmed.

Edison officials released a statement:

"Edison Township has been notified that a 74 year old township male resident is a presumptive positive case for COVID-19.

"We have been informed that he had recently returned from a cruise. His wife, who also traveled with him, is being tested and evaluated by health care professionals.

"The state will continue to update us as the situation progresses and we will share
updates as permitted by law.

"At this time we are not aware of any community interaction by either individual.

"If residents have questions regarding COVID-19 they may call the NJ State Health call center at 1-800-222-1222. Information is available in multiple languages."
