Coronavirus: 2 Monmouth Residents Among 8 New NJ Cases

Two Monmouth County residents are among eight new presumptive positive cases of the coronavirus, state officials announced Wednesday. The new cases bring the total number of Monmouth County cases to four.

The eight new cases bring the total number of cases statewide to 23, Gov. Phil Murphy said. One person in New Jersey has died. Read more: NJ Coronavirus Updates: Here's What You Need To Know

State Health Commissioner Judith Persichelli said the eight cases include three females and five males, with four in Bergen County and two in Middlesex County in addition to the Monmouth pair. The patients range from 17 to 66 years old.

Persichelli said two of the eight new cases are not linked to other patients or areas where corornavirus is prevalent.

On Tuesday, two other Monmouth County residents were identified as presumptive positive cases of coronavirus: an 83-year-old Hazlet woman being treated at Hackensack Meridian Health Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, and a 27-year-old Little Silver man who was treated at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, but has since been discharged and is in isolation at home.

Hometowns and other details on the two new Monmouth patients were not immediately available.
