NEW JERSEY — A winter storm hit New Jersey on Sunday after leaving at least 9 inches of snow in its wake. Road crews were dealing with the cleanup, a number of accidents, potential power outages and black ice on Sunday night and Monday morning, and the Garden State may face more trouble later in the week since additional winter weather is in the forecast (see the forecast and current road and other impacts below).

Patch kept track of the town-by-town snow totals since at least 9 inches of snow fell. Read more: Who Got The Most Snow? NJ Town-By-Town Nor'easter Snow Totals

One to 3 inches per hour fell and gale-force winds knocked down wires. The storm was potentially troublesome as it came in the heels of a nor'easter that left as many as 35 inches in some parts of New Jersey.

But the troubles won't end there: Much of that snow and wet stuff is expected to freeze, causing slippery conditions as temperatures drop into the 20s and teens.

Gov. Phil Murphy will likely address the weather during his 1 p.m. news conference on Monday. Read more: WATCH LIVE: Gov. Murphy Issues NJ Coronavirus, Vaccines Update

The National Weather Service issued warnings for New Jersey drivers on Monday morning:

  • Although the snow has moved out of the region, many roads remain wet.
  • Below freezing conditions were expected to develop shortly across the region.
  • As a result, icy conditions, including black ice, will be possible, especially on untreated surfaces and bridges and overpasses overnight and into Monday morning.
  • Temperatures by sunrise Monday morning were to be mostly in the teens, so the icy conditions will remain possible through the Monday morning commute.
  • If driving during this period, please exercise caution for slippery conditions. If the road looks wet, it could be icy.
  • Allow extra time to reach your destination, increase following distance with the vehicle in front of you and avoid using cruise control.
