Black Bear Seen In Maplewood Near Hilton Library

Authorities tranquilized and removed the bear from the area, reports say.

Maplewood, NJ – Commuters in Maplewood had to bear their way through traffic delays on Wednesday while authorities removed a black bear from the area around the Hilton Library on Springfield Avenue.

Police and wildlife officials were seen in the area tranquilizing and removing a young bear around 11 a.m., RLS Media reported.

The bear was first sighted early this morning by Maplewood police, TAP Into SOMA stated.

Another recent black bear sighting took place on April 21, when one of the animals was spotted in the wooded area behind Pilgrim Plaza on Pompton Avenue in Verona (behind Kings Food Market and along the side of Claridge House 2) around 10:30 a.m.
