New Shopping Center Celebrates Grand Opening In Morris Township

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Morris Marketplace, a 140,000-square-foot shopping center that has been in the works for several years, opened its doors to the public on Tuesday.

On Aug. 8, Morris Township Deputy Mayor William "Bud" Ravitz officiated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the property, which combines shopping and dining options with other engaging community spaces.

Morris Marketplace is located at 191 East Hanover Avenue.

The new East Hanover Avenue attraction, which has been in the works for four years, will also include an outdoor play area and splash pad, which local leaders hope will entice families to visit the community and shopping center.

"We are thrilled to welcome so many new business partners to Morris Township. All these new businesses enhance the experience for our residents and those of the surrounding area. We know that The Marketplace will enjoy great success and look forward to celebrating it with all our new friends and partners," Ravitz said.

To date, 28 businesses have leased commercial space, with 17 of them already operational. Retailers include Lidl grocery, Starbucks, AT&T, Orangetheory Fitness, Tropical Smoothie, Restore Wellness and Cambridge Wines and a variety of eateries, shops and businesses.

"With an ideal location on the border of Morris Township and Morristown, we wanted this to be a destination property where commerce and community converge in a welcoming setting," Jack Klugmann, President & CEO of Accurate said.

Morris Marketplace, which combines 140,000 square feet of retail space with various community attractions, is located on the former Colgate-Palmolive corporate campus. Children's play areas, pocket parks, splash pads, seating areas, outdoor dining spaces, and other active and passive recreation spaces will be available.

The space is intended to have a "town center" feel while reimagining what a suburban retail space can become. The 20-acre property is part of a larger, 64-acre development that will eventually become townhomes and rental units in Morris Township and Morristown.
